Lighting Workshop

Master the art of lighting for film and media with this practical, hands-on workshop for film & media teachers, led by a video and film professional and instructor. Whether you're working with industry-standard kit or helping students make the most of limited resources, this session will give you the technical knowledge and confidence to teach lighting effectively in your classroom.

The workshop will cover: 

  • Key principles of shaping light

  • Hands-on practice working through different setups

  • Tips for helping students achieve cinematic lighting working with a range of equipment/budgets

This workshop is free and open to film & media teachers looking to enhance their practical skills and bring professional lighting techniques into their teaching.

This workshop will be led by Em Morgan: dynamic Technician/Instructor for the Film and Media Section at Varndean College, bringing a wealth of hands-on industry experience to the classroom. Em has worked on various sets across the industry, from music videos and event coverage to documentary and narrative. They have collaborated with brands such as IKEA, Netflix, and Channel 4, continuously working in various production roles to hone their craft - this Summer marks their producing debut with a short film titled September.
