Weekly Resources Round-up: 18 September 2026

The network team collates resources from multiple sources each week to share with educators, which may be of interest to you, and your students or alumni. These resources are not necessarily created by us and the original source will be linked for you. If you have resources you would like us to share in the future, as a member or an industry representative, please email us at hello@ftveducators.net.

Teaching Resources for Educators

Screen Industries Careers Resources Padlet
An amazing resource from Molly McGregor at All Springs Media: a collection of opportunities, information and support for anyone working in, or looking to break into, the UK screen industries. The Padlet includes links to job boards, training opportunities, industry bodies, funding and support resources. Really useful to signpost students to for careers support?

BBFC Create the Card Teacher Pack
The BBFC’s latest Create the Card competition marks the release of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping: the winning student will see their design on the BBFC Rating Card before every film screening in the UK. It is open to 12-16 year-olds and closes on 18 October. The BBFC have created an accompanying Teacher Pack to go with it, including curriculum-linked extension lessons for Film & Media Studies.

Screenskills & BFI Content Creator Landscape Study
An very interesting read if your students are increasingly drawn to content-creation careers - section 4 on skills may be particularly relevant. The report mentions the following overlap between film/tv skills and content creation skills (many of which may already be covered on your film/media course?):

  • Ideation, scriptwriting and pitching

  • Directing, acting, presenting, interviewing

  • Pre-production planning and logistics

  • Camera, sound and lighting

  • Editing and post-production

The report also mentioned two key skills gap areas: Legal & IP (eg. copyright, tax, contract negotiation, etc.), and workplace & interpersonal skills (including time management, collaboration, and communication).
