The network team collates resources from multiple sources each week to share with members, which may be of interest to you and your students or alumni. These resources are not necessarily created by us and the original source will be linked for you. Must-see Opportunities

  • Write Across Bradford: this 8-week professional development programme is delivered by BBC Writers in partnership with Word Up North, Bradford Producing Hub, New Writing North, Bradford Arts Centre, and Screen Yorkshire. “Selected writers will take part in a range of craft and industry sessions designed to grow their professional skills, cover the foundations of storytelling for the screen, and demystify the process of writing for television.” Submissions open on 06 Feb, and you can book a free ticket to the launch event.

  • BFI Film Academy Workshop with Ben Wheatley: a wonderful opportunity to hear from Director, Ben Wheatley about making a film with a tiny budget, as well as guidance from BFI Film Academy filmmakers who will screen their short film made for only £1000. This event is open to 16-25 year olds and taking place at The Ultimate Picture Palace, Oxford on 25 Feb. Tickets are £5, but bursaries are available through BFI Film Academy.

  • Mediorite Creative Community: Film Festival Challenge: ahead of the 6th Mediorite ‘GET SEEN’ Film Festival (date TBC), join other creatives to receive the brief, network together to form ideas, and present these for feedback. Event date: 10 Feb, London.

  • BBFC Youth Panel: the BBFC has opened applications for young people to join their Youth Panel. “Listening to young people is essential to our work, and we highly value their opinions on content to ensure their views are reflected in our age rating decisions. Our Youth Panel champions young voices and offers members unique opportunities, including meeting industry professionals, learning about careers in the UK film industry, viewing a range of content and providing feedback to our compliance team, attending meetings with our President and CEO and representing the BBFC across social media and media platforms, including TV and radio.” Deadline for applications is 11 Mar.
