We’re delighted to be supporting SCRIPTFEST.

Led by the London Screen Academy, this is an incredible new opportunity for film/media educators and your students! On 5 November, we’ll be taking over the stunning Everyman Cinema in King’s Cross for a full-day celebration of screenwriting.

Across the different screens, the programme will feature:

  • hands-on writing workshops, talks and industry Q&As for students and young people (Level 2, 3 and recent graduates)

  • educators-only CPD sessions on creative writing prompts (in collaboration with Into Film) and effective feedback

  • sessions will be led by expert tutors and industry professionals with real-world experience across film, TV, and streaming

Speakers:

Ben Murrell is a freelance Script Editor and Story Consultant, collaborating with writers, directors, and producers to craft bold, distinctive stories for the screen. His recent credits include: A Woman of Substance (Channel 4), the independent feature film Blueberry Inn and the BAFTA-nominated series Lost Boys and Fairies (BBC). He launched his screen career at Duck Soup Films, having been selected from hundreds of applicants for Channel 4’s prestigious Production Training Scheme. He worked as a production assistant on DREAMERS (Channel 4) before becoming Duck Soup’s Development Coordinator, collaborating with the founders, Head of Development, and Executive Producers to build an ambitious and diverse slate. Before moving into film and television, Ben taught English and Media as a secondary school teacher.

Rebecca Knapp has been working in film and television production for over twenty years, since graduating with a Law Degree from the University of Edinburgh. 
Her films have been nominated for four BAFTA’s, won over thirty international awards, played in hundreds of festivals (including: London, Edinburgh, Berlin, AFI, Tribeca and Palm Springs) and been distributed across the globe. She has received funding from the BBC, Channel 4, Film Four, SKY, Ffilm Cymru, Northern Ireland Screen, Scottish Screen, ITV, Hallmark, UK Film Council and the Wellcome Trust. Along with working in production, she has done business affairs,  set up and run the TV channel Rapture, as well as distributing a number of films in the UK. During this time, she has been asked to lecture and mentor for universities and industry bodies in the UK and abroad. She currently producing a slate of projects at her production company Auroral Pictures.

Isaac Tomiczek is a multi-disciplined writer, director, and education professional working across film, TV, and theatre. His work often stems from a desire to fuse crowd-pleasing and thought-provoking entertainment with the lived experiences of his diverse and distinctive upbringing. He has written episodes of Spellbound for Hulu, and his script Two Become One made The Brit List 2022 with twelve mentions. He has directed for Channel 4’s Random Acts and the BBC’s Sparks series. His short film, Taylor, earned him an Emerging Talent award at the New Renaissance Film Festival 2022. Isaac was a member of the Stockroom Writers’ Room, where his productions included Blaccine: First Dose and Alice in Wonderland.

Freelance writer and script consultant Theresa Boden, supports award winning writers & directors and production companies in various formats – shorts, TV and Features. Her work as a tutor/mentor includes Screen Arts Institute & BFI Future Film Academy; Glasgow Film/Short Circuits and MA Screenwriting programmes at LCC, Birkbeck University, MetFilm School and Script Development Workshops for Euroscript and BECTU.  She has worked with BFI Future Film participants since 2015 as a script consultant, workshop leader and panel moderator at the BFI’s Film Academy Labs and Festivals. 

Sunny Bahia is an award-winning writer/director with over 20 years’ experience in advertising, scripted comedy and drama. His TV directing credits include Disney+’s Renegade Nell as 2nd Unit Director and Director for BBC’s The Dumping Ground and Apple Tree House. Sunny has extensive experience as a writer including several broadcast credits. In comedy, he has written sketches for comic relief as well as episodes for BBC 2’s Bitesize programmes.
