How do you ensure film & TV productions are kind to both people and planet? Keep up to date with the latest industry best practice in accessibility and sustainability, and discover how to align your students’ productions with these vital standards.
The day will split into two sessions, which can be booked separately or together:
10am - 1pm: Sustainable Film & TV Production
The morning session will be led by Júlia Tordai and Laurie Martin from Green Eyes Productions, and will include:
an introduction to the sustainability department on film & TV sets, and newly-established key roles such as Sustainability Coordinator
what the department’s workflow involves across all areas of production, including practical activities and advice to apply this to student projects
career advice for students interested in sustainability
2 - 5pm: Accessibility in the Screen Industries
The afternoon session will be led by trainer and access advisor Alix Burgess, and will cover:
What is Accessibility?
What is Film and TV doing for Accessibility? Including a practical Access Checklist activity, an overview of accessible productions, a look at the TV Access project and how funding for access works
Roles and Pathways: What is the role of an Access Coordinator or Access Lead ? How do you work in Access?
This CPD day is aimed at film and media teachers who want to ensure their teaching is aligned with current industry standards, and a CPD certificate will be provided for your departmental records. It connects with learning outcomes across a range of Level 3 qualifications including the T Level in Broadcast Media Production (Core Element 7: EDI), UAL Extended Diploma in Creative Practice (LO 7.3: Ethical Design & Social Responsibility), BTEC Digital Media Production (Unit 8 C2: Ethical Considerations & Accessibility), For A Level Film and Media teachers (Eduqas, OCR, AQA), it delivers vital contextual insight into current industrial practices, regulatory standards, and institutional ethics.
Location: this event will take place at the London Screen Academy, Ladbroke House, 62-66 Highbury Grove, London N5 2AG. The sessions will take place on the third floor, and lift access is available - if you require lift access, please let us know via the booking form.

Trainers:
Júlia Tordai is a biologist, science communicator and filmmaker, and CEO of Green Eyes Production, a sustainability consultancy whose credits include Poor Things, Dune: Prophecy, Alien: Romulus and Moon Knight. She is also an experienced trainer, including at TorinoFilmLab, Film London, Cannes and Berlinale, delivering tailored sustainability trainings for screen professionals across Europe.
Laurie Martin is a Sustainability Coordinator at Green Eyes Production, and volunteers as a wildlife rescuer. She runs day-to-day sustainability on set for high-end UK TV dramas, including waste management & crew engagement, and co-delivers sustainability training with Júlia, including for Film London and the Amazon Progression Lab.
Alix Burgess (They/Them) is an educator and advocate for deaf, disabled and LGBT+ communities. With a background in Theatre and TV and lived experience of disability, they provide training, access advice and support services to organisations and events. Alix works with the TV Access Project and has been delivering training since 2018. They have worked with the Creative Diversity Network, NFTS and major broadcasters such as BBC, Channel 4, and Sky.
